Op Art

Illusion of movement by the use of line, pattern and contrasting color

Students will draw 3 or more shapes (circles, squares) on a sheet of 12×18 sheet of paper,

Next, they will use cross contour lines to make shapes into forms .  Have a form going off the page which will add depth

They will then create a background that has the illusion of movement with line pattern, checkered board, concave checkered board or any advanced technique from pervious practice ( skinny to fat design, spiraling stairwell, etc)

Art 2

Shoe Frenzy

Students will receive a sheet of paper 9×12. They will need to draw a 1/2″ border all the way around their page.

Next, they will need their HB, 2B & 4B pencil along with the shoe reference photo I gave them,

They will first draw a contour line drawing (VERY LIGHTLY) of the reference photo I gave them. (Spend a lot of time on this drawing, getting the correct foreshortening, perspective, etc)

Next, begin adding value slowly and working from light to dark. Place a sheet of scrap paper under the heel of your hand as you draw. This will prevent smudges and making your paper look dirty.

Now and then step back from your drawing about 6ft and review and see possible areas that need to be revised.  You also need to see if your values have contrast.  Make sure you have a full range.

Puzzle Installation and Collaborative Project

Students will design a puzzle piece on a worksheet  to get their ideas planned.  The drawing must be meaningful.

After they have come up with their design then will then redraw on a large paper.  Their drawing must have color and fill the large paper.

Student may use paint, colored pencil, collage, etc.  The medium is up to them.

Once, all pieces are done we will assemble the pieces of the puzzle to create a large mural in the hallway.
