Scratchboards
Students will select a photograph of an animal
*Next, students will draw the photograph, working out the elements of the composition and lighting
*Trace over their drawing on their scratchboard to make an impression of their image.
*Decide and experiment with the textures you will use within the different objects. Try the textures out on a piece of scrap board.
*Now you are ready to start scratching . Do not out line your image. Begin by building a faint values around or within an object with dots or short dashes.
*As you work you will gradually begin to build lighter values. Pay close attention to how the light falls on your photograph. You must establish a light source.
Zentangle Animal
Student will choose an animal they want to draw.
They will draw the animal(no details only the outline) on a 12×18 sheet of paper. Use the paper!
Once your animal is completely drawn then you will divided the animal into different sections.
After all sections are drawn, you will draw different zentangles in each section.
Once complete you will draw over your pencil lines in black sharpie
Art 3/4
Flip Books
We will watch 4 Youtube videos of complete flip books. This will show the students of the progression and movement needed.
They will sketch out a rough outline on a sheet of paper of 25-30 squares, so I will have a basic idea of their concept.
Next they will be give a 90 page flip book to draw and then add color to the finished product
Monochromatic Self Portrait
*Students will take a close up self portrait of their face.
*Then they will upload their image into a program that will change their image into a grey scale.
*We will then print off their image and place a transparency over the top and trace the contours
*They can now grid their transparency and their large sheet of paper
*Next, they will begin drawing
*After all is drawn they will then choose a color to create their image into a monochromatic value scale. They may choose the color they want to use for their monochromatic scale.
