Art Lesson Plans Oct 11-15

Art 1

***MAKE SURE YOUR COMPOSITION BOOK IS IN CLASS ALL WEEK AND THE COVER IS COMPLETED.

Cartoon Grid-DUE FRIDAY

*Students will divide a cartoon with 1/4 ” grid on top. They will measure off the 1/4 ” along all four sides.
*Next, students will connect the marks with a ruler and draw a line. This will create a grid across the cartoon.
*They will then label their grid a-? on the top and 1-? on the sides.
*Students will then measure off their large paper either 1 1/4, 1 1/2, etc grid on
the sheet of 12 x 18 paper. The size depends on the size of the cartoon.
*Next, they will create a grid using whichever size is best for their cartoon (remember to measure all 4 sides so that your squares are even)
*Students need to label their large sheet of paper so it matches their cartoon.
*Students will begin drawing square by square.
*Once, students have completed their drawing they will outline their cartoon in black sharpie, then erase their grid.
*Students will the color their cartoon grid with colored pencils.
*Cartoons need to staple their small cartoon to their large one.

Art 2

Construction Paper Silhouette

*Students will draw a scene, person, animal, etc on a white sheet of paper
*Next, students will have to decide what will stay the black construction paper and what will be cut out.
*They will then lay there pattern on top of the black construction paper and use an x acto knife to cut out the areas that will have color behind them
*Glue colored construction paper to the black

Art 3 & 4

Animal/Human Eyes abstraction-DUE FRIDAY

*Students will divide a large sheet of paper 18 x 24 into 4 equal parts

*Next, they need to choose 2 animals with eyes that are recognizable, a zentangle eye of a person and then a colorful dramatic eye.  (one each will be in each section, the animal eyes should be diagonal from each other.

* They will draw each eye and 3 of the four eyes need color.  They may choose their medium.  They can use the same medium in all 4 or 4 different mediums.

Begin sketching and working on ideas for our 1st competition for the Fort Worth Stock Show Art Contest.

**Remember there is a theme that has to be incorporated how in the design

*Trace over their drawing on their scratchboard to make an impression of their image.

*Now you are ready to start scratching . Do not outline your image. Begin by building a faint values around or within an object with dots or short dashes.
*As you work you will gradually begin to build lighter values. Pay close attention to how the light falls on your photograph. You must establish a light source.

*Once complete glue edges together except bottom and stuff with pillow stuffing
*Glue pillow closed

Art 1

Optical Illusion with Colored Pencil

Draw 9 vertical waves.  Waves should not cross

Draw a simple wave across

Use a thin sharpie.  Draw upward curves above the middle wave.

Draw downward below the middle line.

Every next curve starts at a previous line.

Alter the distance between the curves.

Color each section gradating color from dark to  light to dark.

Use an analogous color and apply same gradation pattern.

Use different colors for the next section.  Use your white colored pencil to blend

*Next, students will draw an angle that goes from skinny to fat.
*The next line starts where your last line stops.
*Students will Continue to work their way around the square till they reach the center.
*Once completed they will choose a light and a dark color and alternate the colors through their design.
*ALWAYS START WHERE YOUR LAST LINE STOPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Multiple Optical Illusion Spirals

*Students will divide their paper into 6 even sections
*Students will then divide  each section into 4 section giving you 24 sections
*In each triangle they will use the same technique and rules as they did on the project above, it will not look anything like the above project.

Positive/Negative Zentangle Animal

Students will draw a silhouette of an animal in the middle of their paper
Next they will cut out the silhouette carefully with an xacto
They will then draw zentangle in the silhouette of the animal and also the negative page of the animal
Once completed they will glue the animal on the left side of a sheet of black construction paper and the negative piece on the right.

After they have glued it onto their paper they will completely fill their blank page with where their creativity takes them.

Finish from Friday-Creativity Test* Students will have a worksheet that has different shapes on it and they have to create something they see out of that shape. – due end of class Monday

Right/Left Brain Test

*Students will take a R/L Brain test to see what hemisphere they learn with.
*Next, we will discuss the different sides of the brain and their characteristics.

Experiencing the shift from the left to the Right
*Students will receive a handout and discuss what they see in each image and how it works

Worksheet on Switching from the L to R
*Students will receive a handout that half of the image is drawn.
*They will have to redraw the image on the opposite side of the page.
*It will be a mirrored image.
